There is no room for half-hearted commitment in sports as it may lead to one’s downfall. A similar happened with Pakistan captain Shan Masood who was ball-watching in the middle of the pitch after calling for a run, eventually leading to his dismissal on the second day of the Multan Test.

The pair of Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan continued their merry way with the bat before West Indies pulled up their socks in the second half of the first session and bundled them for 230. In response, they managed to get just 137 runs by bits and pieces contribution from the lower order. Gaining a lead of 93, Pakistan got off to a great start, thanks to Shan Masood’s positive approach, who continued his way irrespective of the fall of Mohammad Hurraira and Babar Azam on the opposite end. Just when Masood aimed to play out the day, he ended up in trouble due to his error.

On the second ball of the 28th over, Masood fended a fuller, slower delivery from Jomel Warrican towards gully area and called for a single. To which, Kamran Ghulam responded by reaching midway of the pitch in quick time. However, Masood hesitated looking at the fielder and seemed ball-watching and frazzling before succumbing to a disastrous runout. The on-field umpire didn’t require much assistance to dismiss the Pak captain who had his hand at the head. The event took place at the cusp of Stumps, and the third scalp in Pakistan’s innings prompted the Twitterverse into discussion.
