Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Chennai Super Kings at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium after 17 years. Their top order fired with Rajat Patidar’s 32-ball 51 backed by RCB’s bowling precision, leading them to the top of the points table despite Noor Ahmad’s spin excellence in Chennai.

Eyeing to end their losing drought at the MA Chidambaram Stadium since 2008, fate didn’t comply with them as CSK decided to field first. But Phil Salt relieved their hopes with a blistering start, scoring a 16-ball 32 before MS Dhoni’s rapid stumping outwitted him in the fifth over. Despite Virat Kohli's struggles, RCB piled up 56 runs inside the powerplay. The scoreboard was eventually bolstered with Devdutt Paddikal scoring 14-ball 27, steering them to 77/2 in eight overs. Subsequently, Rajat Patidar catalyzed the score with his sensational ball-striking ability, tonking a six before and after the halfway mark. 45 runs came in the next five overs as the RCB captain raced to set up his 30-ball fifty amidst Kohli’s wicket. Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma departed in the 16th and 18th over before a Pathirana one-run over made way for Tim David’s hattrick of sixes in the last over, propelling RCB to 196/6 in 20 overs.

Unlike their counterparts, the visitors got off to a shaky start as Josh Hazlewood extracted the first couple of wickets amidst Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s swing to push the Super Kings to 30/3 in the powerplay.
