From Fire to Flop? SRH Opening Duo Under the Scanner
Sunrisers Hyderabad are surely having the most explosive opening duo, in the form of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. But ever since IPL 2024, both of them have not been able to do much wonders for the team. Their cheap scores against Lucknow Super Giants has now raised more questions.

It is not a good time for Sunrisers Hyderabad, as their explosive batting duo is not at its very best. Back in the IPL 2024 season, the bowlers were scared to bowl against Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, as they turned the powerplays into a moment of picking the ball from the boundary line.
In the IPL 2024 season alone, both of these batsmen were able to score more than 1000 runs combined. Travis Head scored 567 runs in the tournament at a strike rate of 191.55, and Abhishek Sharma scored 484 runs at a strike rate of 204.21. But since then, it seems that they have lost touch.
Last season, Abhishek Sharma was able to score runs for the team but he didn't receive the required support from Travis Head to the same extent. And now in IPL 2026, both players have lost their form, failing to deliver at their best. Even in the game against LSG, they have fallen down for cheap scores.
Our Take
It is a real challenge for Sunrisers Hyderabad to solve the issue being faced with the opening duo. In the IPL 2026 alone, they have failed to perform well in two of the three games played by the team. This surely raises some serious questions on the batting line-up of the team.
Abhishek Sharma has struggled to do well in his favourite format since the T20 World Cup 2026. Travis Head also had a tough time with the bat lately, as he also was not able to do well for the Australian team in the T20 World Cup.
