The WPL 2026 season has come to an end, and RCB won their second title. A franchise having no trophies till 2023 has now won three titles in three years. With their win in WPL 2026, RCB has achieved a historic record, holding both IPL and WPL trophies together at the same time.
A team which held no trophies for 16 years is now filling up their cabinets quickly. And that team is none other than Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Whether it is the WPL or the IPL, the team is standing at a whole different level. By defeating Delhi Capitals in the WPL final, the team has won its second title of the tournament.
And this marks the third trophy for RCB team in the last three years. Moreover, they have achieved something which no other team has done in the WPL and IPL combined. RCB became the only team to hold both IPL and WPL titles at the same time. In both of the tournaments, they are the current champions for the next few months.
1. RCB's 2nd WPL Title Win
A team which remained dominant throughout the Women's Premier League 2026 edition was Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The team became first to reach the playoffs, and even reached the finals of the tournament directly. This made them wait for the other spot to be filled, as they prepared for the ultimate clash on 5 February.
On the other hand, Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals gave their best to reach the finals. With Delhi winning the game, fans got an opportunity to get flashbacks of the WPL 2024 edition. Delhi Capitals had reached their fourth consecutive final, while RCB had the aim to win another title, since they have been dominant.
Smriti Mandhana was able to win the toss in this game, as she decided that the team will be bowling first. This decision may not have come in the favour of RCB bowlers. Delhi Capitals had their batting line-up thrash the RCB bowlers all over the ground. Jemimah Rodrigues (57) and Laura Wolvaardt (44) stitched an important stand for DC.
Chinelle Henry scored 35 runs off 14 balls, which helped Delhi to score 203 runs in 20 overs. And Delhi had never lost a game when they scored above 180 in the first innings of the game. But Royal Challengers Bengaluru went on to defy all the odds. There was no surprise in the same, noting their all-round batting line-up.
The team didn't have a good start, as Grace Harris lost her wicket in the 2nd over. But Georgia Voll and Smriti Mandhana stood together for a massive partnership. The duo made 164 runs for the second wicket, and took the team way too close to the win. Radha Yadav and Nadine de Klerk finished the game for RCB, leading them to win the 2nd WPL title.
Smriti Mandhana went on to score 87 runs off 41 balls, playing a captain's knock for her team. While Jemimah Rodrigues also played a captain's knock, it was not enough for her to take her team to the win. This has now left Delhi Capitals with their fourth consecutive final loss in the WPL. RCB will now be entering the next season as the defending champions.
2. RCB's First Title Defense in IPL
For the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be entering as the defending champions. The team ended its 17 year IPL trophy wait in the 18th edition of the tournament. It was also said that Season 18 was the one where Number 18 gets his first IPL title.

It all started with several changes by the RCB in the Mega auction. The team also made a change in their captaincy, as Rajat Patidar was announced as the new skipper. Eventually, RCB went on to dominate the league stages of the tournament and even finished at the 2nd spot.
This helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru to play Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings. Their bowlers showed impressive performances, which helped them to restrict Punjab at the score of 101. Eventually, RCB was able to win this game by 8 wickets and reach the finals for the first time in IPL since 2016.

Virat Kohli was the top run scorer, with 43 runs, as Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson took 3 wickets each for Punjab Kings in this game. Punjab failed to chase the target, falling short by just 6 runs.
