IND vs USA | Twitter laughs as Kishan's fumble deceives blindsided Milind to become blessing in disguise
Opportunity does not knock on any doors before arriving, and neither does misfortune. Ishan Kishan was the beneficiary of the former against the USA at Wankhede on Saturday after his mistake left Milind Kumar dazed, and the wicket-keeper duly capitalized to turn an error into a crucial wicket.

India recovered from 77/6 in their 2026 T20 World Cup opener against the United States of America in Mumbai on Saturday to post a competitive 161/9 on the board, courtesy of skipper Suryakumar Yadav's lone-warrior unbeaten effort of 84 from just 49 deliveries. The Men in Blue then backed up the batting heroics with three powerplay wickets to leave the visitors down and out, but Milind Kumar and Sanjay Krishnamurthi kept them in the contest by stitching together a composed 58-run stand. With the duo settled, the target was within reach and just when the hosts were beginning to get desperate for a scalp, it arrived in the most unexpected of ways.
Milind, batting on a run-a-ball 34, found himself up against Varun Chakaravarthy on the final ball of the 12th over. The mystery spinner speared in a length delivery in the channel that completely befuddled Milind who was duly squared up while trying to work the ball towards the leg side. However, he was not the only victim as Ishan Kishan behind the stumps knew no better either and failed to collect the ball cleanly. Milind, left stranded in no man's land, realized the same but to his misfortune assumed the Kookaburra had gone past Kishan and took off for a run. Instead, the ball had thumped into Kishan's torso and stayed with him as he juggled around to take control of it, but by the time Milind became aware it was too late already. Kishan managed to get the ball in his grasp just in the nick of time and somehow managed to break the stumps almost mid-fumble with the ball in his gloves, which proved to be the end of Milind's stay at the crease.
Twitterati, unsurprisingly, was in splits.
