Reports | Manchester City re-open talks for Joao Cancelo
Manchester City have re-opened talks with Juventus over Joao Cancelo, with the Cityzens looking to make one more addition before the transfer window closes. They’ve already brought in Rodrigo, Angelino, and Zack Steffen, but believe that Cancelo would be the perfect foil for right-back Kyle Walker.
Manchester City have re-opened talks for Juventus star Joao Cancelo with the Cityzens looking to reinforce their defence before the season starts. The Guardian has reported that while Pep Guardiola and company showed interest in the 25-year-old earlier this summer, no move materialized with Juventus rejecting Manchester City’s first bid.
The Cityzens had tabled an offer worth around €40-million plus Danilo for the full-back but saw that move rejected, as Cancelo played a part in Maurizio Sarri’s new Juventus. However, the Guardian has added that the Premier League Champions are now looking to improve that offer alongside Danilo’s presence to help ease the transition.
Cancelo who only arrived last summer from Valencia in a deal worth €40 million was arguably one of Juventus’ best players and has been linked with a move to the Premier League. While Manchester City are now leading the race, Manchester United were once considering a move before they opted to add Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
This has given the Cityzens’ a chance to sign the 25-year-old right-back, who has also flourished while playing as a left-back.
