Reports | Chelsea target lifting their ban and signing Wilfried Zaha
Europa League champions, Chelsea are looking to place an ÂŁ80million bid for Wilfried Zaha in January. That is if the Blues can overturn the transfer ban that has been imposed on them, which has stopped them from replacing either Eden Hazard or David Luiz with bigger and better players this summer.
Wilfried Zaha has reportedly agreed to a truce with Crystal Palace supremo Steve Parish after the club denied him a move to Everton. The Selhurst Park side believe that the Scousers âgot to himâ and tried to pile on the pressure, right on deadline day, so that the player forces through a move to Goodison Park.
The 26-year-old handed in a transfer request on Wednesday and did not train with the Eagles yesterday. Manager Roy Hodgson even admitted that the forwardâs head was not clear. In the end, however, despite a deal worth around a deal ÂŁ70 million, the move failed, with Palace reporting that Zaha wouldnât be allowed to leave.
This has seen the Sun report that Chelsea, are convinced that they can escape a transfer ban and are shortlisting players that will help them re-build. The report further adds that the Blues are well aware of Zahaâs situation and are willing to bring him during the January transfer window. But thatâs only if their transfer ban gets reduced to a six-month ban, which does allow them to spend in the winter-window.
