Reports | Marco Silva faces sack after Anfield thrashing

Marco Silva faces the sack, with Everton’s board set to decide the Portuguese’s future on Thursday after just four wins in 15 Premier League games. That combined with the 5-2 loss to Liverpool has seen the Toffees finish the week in the relegation zone and the club are considering their options.

The former Hull City and Watford manager has already survived one round of emergency talks a little over ten days ago and with a second-round set to take place, it’s unlikely he will walk away with his job intact. The BBC has reported that the loss to Liverpool and the club’s run of form this season despite their summer spending spree will see Silva potentially lose his job.

The report from the BBC further added that in the event that Everton do not announce a long term managerial appointment, the Toffees will appoint David Moyes. The former Manchester United manager spent 11 years at Goodison Park and lead the club to most of their modern success before leaving for Old Trafford. However, one major issue with Moyes is the fact that nothing has gone right for him since leaving Goodison.

His spells at Manchester United and Real Sociedad saw him get sacked, he was in charge of Sunderland when they were relegated and his short spell with West Ham did not help his cause. But reports indicate that the Everton board have faith in Moyes and believe that he can do well in a short term spell, till the club figure out a permanent solution. The Toffees have also been linked with an unlikely move for Diego Simeone and a move for former Olympique Lyon manager Marcelino.

Marco Silva, on the other hand, was asked about his future after the Merseyside Derby and in his post-match interview, Silva admitted that he had no idea what was going to happen. "I am not the right person to talk about this situation. You are asking me and I don't have the answer,” said Silva reported BBC.
