Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has drawn the first blood in the buildup to the El Clasico, claiming that winning the game is very important for Madridistas. The Clasico is set to be played on 18th December, after the initially planned date was postponed due to civil unrest in Barcelona.

Real Madrid faces a challenging week ahead with games against Valencia and Barcelona, both away from home. However, in an interview with Marca, Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal is confident of a strong Madrid performance in both games and is unfazed by the external factors that could affect the El Clasico. The Clasico was to be played on 26th October but the civil unrest in Barcelona and across Catalonia forced the Spanish authorities to delay the Clasico. The match between Real Madrid and Barcelona is to be played on 18th December at the Nou Camp and Carvajal wants to win the battle at all costs.

“I want to go to the Camp Nou and win, the rest doesn't matter to me. I try to avoid any other issues. We start with less hours of rest than Barcelona and after a demanding game like Mestalla [against Valencia],” said Carvajal to Marca.

Zinedine Zidane has some difficult decisions to make in terms of balancing his team against Valencia and Barcelona, but Dani Carvajal has made it clear that he only focuses on winning the Camp Nou, rather than on the security issues surrounding the Clasico. There are other security concerns ahead of the rescheduled Clasico due to possible political protests declared by the Democratic Tsunami but Carvajal has advised everyone to only concentrate on the game.

“Regarding that issue, we are calm. Hopefully the match will be played with maximum safety. We will play wherever they tell us, but we're focused on Valencia, with that game offering the same number of points as Barcelona,” said the Spanish defender.
