Report | Real Madrid set to sell five players to fund a move for Paul Pogba
Real Madrid are set to launch an operation to fund a move for Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba, with the club open to selling no fewer than five players. That list also includes James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale, two stars who have been heavily linked with moves away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid have been insistently chasing after Paul Pogba since the January transfer window, with the Frenchman unhappy at Manchester United. The change in manager did help his cause but not for long before the rumours of Pogba’s unhappiness started floating around again. Now while the summer window is open, no move has materialized as yet despite heavy interest from Juventus and Real Madrid.
However, now the Los Blancos are set to throw a hail Mary to fund the £150 million move for the 2018 World Cup winner by selling no fewer than five players. The Sun has reported that list includes Gareth Bale, Dani Ceballos, Marco Asensio, Isco Alarcon and James Rodriguez. While a move for Bale might be tougher than Real Madrid might expect, the other four have been linked with moves.
Dani Ceballos, Isco and Asensio have been linked with a move to the Premier League, while Rodriguez has been linked with moves to Spain and Italy. The only reason why Real Madrid are open to selling so many players is because the club has already spent in excess of £250 million revamping their team. That means to stay within financial fair play rules, the Los Blancos will have to sell a few players before they fund a super move for Paul Pogba.
