Reports | Juventus star Blaise Matuidi keen on a move to Manchester United
Manchester United target Blaise Matuidi is very keen on joining the Old Trafford side this summer, with the Red Devils making him one of their top targets. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to add another midfielder to his ranks and believes that Matuidi is just the man to help out.
While a move for Harry Maguire might still be on the cards, Manchester United’s main issue has been their midfield. The Red Devils have already lost Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini in 2019, and that has seen them heavily linked with a move for multiple midfield targets. This includes Sean Longstaff, Bruno Fernandes, and even John McGinn.
However, a lack of progress has seen the club enter the race for Blaise Matuidi, with them already asking Juventus about a potential move. Now the Express has reported that the 32-year-old is ready to leave Juventus to find a first-team role again, with him falling down new manager Maurizio Sarri’s pecking order in Turin.
The arrivals of both Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot, combined with Rodrigo Bentancur’s rise have pushed the 2018 World Cup winner down the line. This is not something that Matuidi is happy with and gives Manchester United a chance to make their move. The Red Devils have already failed with a move for Bruno Fernandes, with Sporting Lisbon rejecting their offer for the Portuguese midfielder.
The Liga Nos giants are demanding a fee of around €70 million, which Manchester United are not completely open to paying and that has caused negotiations to come to a standstill.
