Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris is set miss the rest of the year after dislocating his elbow and the club has confirmed that Lloris will not need to undergo surgery. The Frenchman was injured in Tottenham’s 3-0 loss to Brighton and had to be strechered off midgame and replaced by Paulo Gazzaniga.

According to the report from BBC, Goalkeeper Higo Lloris is not expected to return to training until next year after he suffered a dislocated elbow against Brighton on Saturday in the Premier League. He fell awkwardly as he failed to hold a third-minute Pascal Gross cross, with Neal Maupay nodding in the loose ball. A club statement read that he has had ligament damage and will be out of action for the remainder of 2019.

"Although surgery will not be required, our club captain has suffered ligament damage. He is not expected to return to training before the end of 2019. Hugo is currently in a brace and will now undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation," read the club’s official statement.

Lloris’ injury comes at an extremely worrying time for Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have been poor in their play and are labouring hard to get positive results buty all the efforts are in vain. Spurs were left humiliated as they lost 3-0 to Brighton leaving them with 11 points in 8 games. Neal Maupay’s third-minute goal and a brace from Aaron Connolly put Spurs into embarrassment.

Nothing seems to go right at the moment for Spurs, a 2-7 home loss to Spurs then a 3-0 thrashing by Brighton and now their club captain’s injury has put the gans and players in more misery. Mauricio Pochettino is in fierce pressure to deliver after spending some big bucks in the summer transfer market. Hugo Lloris has made 244 Spurs appearances since 2012 and has become one of the fan favourites at the club.

The World cup winning captain's injury now worsens the situation at the club. Mauricio Pochettino could face the axe soon if he cannot turn the tide for Spurs.
