FIFA World Cup Qualifiers | Igor Stimac announces 23-member Indian squad for Bangladesh tie
Head coach Igor Stimac has named 23 players for the Indian team that will take on Bangladesh in the FIFA World Cup Qualifier game to be played on 15 October at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Sandesh Jhingan and Pronay Halder are not a part of the side because of injury and fitness issues.
The Indian football team will be playing against Bangladesh in a much-anticipated clash on Tuesday and head coach Igor Stimac has announced the 23-member squad for this crucial tie. The two neighbouring countries will play in Kolkata with India having a decent squad despite losing Sandesh Jhingan and Pronay Halder due to injury and fitness issues.
Sunil Chhetri will lead the forward line with Balwant Singh and Manvir Singh there for support up front, while the goalkeeping responsibilities will be with Gurpreet Singh Sandhu with Amrinder Singh and Kamaljit Singh also in the squad.
Anas Edathodika, Adil Khan and Subhasish Bose will also have to play an important role in the defence in Jhingan’s absence and they also have Pritam Kotal, Mandar Rao Desai and Rahul Bheke in the backline. Meanwhile, the midfield comprises Udanta Singh, Nikhil Poojary, Vinit Rai, Anirudh Thapa, Abdul Sahal, Raynier Fernandes, Brandon Fernandes, Lallianzuala Chhangte and Ashique Kuruniyan.
