Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he is not close to retiring from football despite being 34 years old. The former Real Madrid star will go down as one of the greatest players to ever grace a football field but with age catching up to him there is a chance that he retires sooner rather than later.

The 34-year-old had admitted earlier this month that he was looking forward to life after football even admitting that nobody knows what will happen in the next year or two. That has caused some concerns for both Juventus and fans as Ronaldo is in only his second season of a four-year deal at Turin. However, despite being well past his prime the five-time Ballon d’Or winner still looks at his very best and even scored his 700 career goal during the international break.

Not only that, he has been nominated for a record sixth Ballon d’Or which would break his tie of five with Lionel Messi and given his performances this season he might just get another nomination next season. But the 34-year-old, despite concerns over his potential retirement, went on to admit that he has no plans to retire anytime soon. He also added that he feels like he’s still has a lot more to offer and that age is simply just a number.

"Age is just a number. It does not mean that at 34, 35, 36, you are at the end of your career. I can show that with my performances, how I play, the way I play, the way I still feel good, sharp, thinking about the game, more mature. This makes the difference," Ronaldo said at a news conference.

The former Manchester United superstar already has a myriad of trophies to his name after successful spells in both England and Spain. But his hunger to win isn’t over with Ronaldo aiming to win a treble with Juventus. The 34-year-old already has a Serie A title to his name, but he went on to admit that the club’s challenge, and his, is to win everything.

"We want to win Serie A, we want to win the Cup, the Champions League. Juventus should think big... We are going to try to win all the trophies, we know it will be difficult, especially the league and the Champions League, but I think it is possible. Everything is possible. In terms of individual , I have nothing to say as this is individual. It is not the most important thing. The most important is the collective awards. If you win the collective awards, you have more chance to win the individual awards... The Ballon d'Or is for me in second place,” concluded Ronaldo.
