Reports | Juventus preparing a last minute bid for Shkodran Mustafi
With the Serie A champions eyeing defensive reinforcements, Juventus are set to make a late move for Shkodran Mustafi. While they did bring in Matthijs de Ligt this summer, Giorgio Chiellini’s injury has caused problems which has seen reports indicate that Juventus have created a four-man shortlist.
Juventus announced on Friday that Chiellini had torn his ACL, which would potentially see the Italian defender miss out on atleast six months of action. But that’s if all goes well and it does leave the Old Lady with a few defensive problems. While they did bring in Matthijs de Ligt this summer, the club only has Leonardo Bonucci, Merih Demiral and Daniele Rugani but neither Rugani or Demiral have impressed during their spells with the club so far.
This has seen reports indicate that the Old Lady are looking for more experienced options to reinforce their backline before the European window closes. The Metro has further reported that while Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng is their top target, Juventus are also considering a move for Arsenal center-back Shkodran Mustafi.
The arrival of David Luiz has seen the 27-year-old dropped down the pecking order in North London, with Arsenal boss Unai Emery even revealing that he was happy to let Mustafi leave. The German was linked with a move to both AS Roma and AS Monaco, but neither move materialized, giving Juventus a chance to swoop in with a last-minute move. But the Metro has further reported that Mustafi is not Juventus’ only option, with potential moves for Dejan Lovren and Medhi Benatia also on the cards.
