Premier League giants Chelsea are speeding up the contract negotiations with defender Emerson Palmieri amidst heavy interest from Juventus. Newly appointed Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri has worked with him at Chelsea and is interested to bring the former AS Roma player back to the Serie A.

Emerson Palmieri's contract at Chelsea expires in 2022, but the club is determined to keep the fullback at Stamford Bridge, reports Goal. The London based club is wary of former manager Maurizio Sarri snatching away the full-back from the club, and want Palmieri to sign a contract extension before the January transfer window.

Chelsea are limited on resources a well, after being imposed with a two-window transfer ban, but the club is confident of having it taken back after appealing to the Court of Arbitration of Sport. Emerson is happy at Chelsea but the Blues officials are under the impression that the 25-year-old might leave the club if he receives a better offer from another club.

Speaking to the official club website, Emerson said, "I arrived a year-and-a-half ago and I’m just so happy at Chelsea. Things have progressed naturally and I’m still young, only 25, so I have a lot of potential and a lot more to give. I’m feeling very happy and relaxed here, which will be important for my progression. My ambition is always to do my best and help the team in any way I can.

"It’s normal when you’re at Chelsea that there’s pressure on every match because it’s a big club and that’s just part of the game. The manager is definitely keeping calm though and just making sure we’re in the best position to do our best.” he went on to add.

Emerson has established himself as the first-choice left-back at Chelsea, while Spanish international Marcos Alonso has fallen down the pecking order under the leadership of new manager Frank Lampard.
