Chennaiyin FC coach Csaba Laszlo has not blamed his players for the lack of goal this season, even though he feels they should be focused and organised during their match against FC Goa. Anirudh Thapa has recovered completely from his injury and is ready to make a start in the upcoming match.

A win in the first game against Jamshedpur FC - that’s pretty much it for Chennaiyin FC to boast about in the ongoing league, with them placed at the eighth position on the league table with five points from as many matches. Moreover, the ‘Marina Machans’ have just scored once in the last four matches - a big reason to worry about is they are still hoping for a top-four finish. But, their head coach Csaba Laszlo is not convinced to put the blame on his players, even though he wants his players to stay focused, organised, and start scoring goals.

“We want to use our strengths. We need to score goals. We must be more focused. We should not be aggressive but focused when we get chances to score. We also have to stay compact , organised and stop Goa and we can lead the team to a win,” said Csaba Laszlo, ahead of their game against FC Goa on Saturday evening.

“If you don't score, you don't win. I think I don't want to push the responsibility on the players. This is also a little bit to do with your own confidence and may be because our preparation was not long. If you are out of football for six months and then come back and hit the ground running, it is not easy. So, I don't want to blame my players. But we must be focused and take confidence. I want us to start scoring more goals even in training. We need to do that more and that confidence will come,” added the manager.

Csaba Laszlo’s men will be up against a well-disciplined FC Goa side that have lost to ATK-Mohun Bagan in the last fixture even though they were in command for the lion’s share of the game. By no means it will be a cakewalk for the Chennai-based side, especially with them struggling in the league. The only good news - Anirudh Thapa has recovered completely from his injury and is ready to start in the upcoming match.

“(We must) Stay compact and focus on ourselves. It's true that we have to concentrate on the opponent. But we also have to concentrate on ourselves. Goa, after losing, will want to comeback. They play good football, we also play football. It should be an interesting game for both sides,” explained Laszlo.
