Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos has stated that the country needs football to stabilize its economic conditions, which is dwindling at the present moment owing to the pandemic situation. The Bundesliga is all set to re-start this weekend, thus becoming the first of the major European leagues to do so.

Spain is one of the most affected countries in the world due to the Covid-19 outbreak with more than 26,000 deaths already reported. The La Liga sides have already been given permission by the government to start training, even when the situation hasn’t improved much. Spanish footballer Sergio Ramos admitted that the country needs football for economic support and also to distract people from the crisis situation which has threatened the entire human race.

"Getting going needs time, the country needs football as an economic support and the people need it as a distraction. I'm dying to compete again, for La Liga Santander to be normal again, we have to be disciplined so that we can eliminate this virus,”  Ramos told Movistar.

"I want to send a message of support to everyone who has lost a loved one, we'll get through this and we have to come together," added the defender.

The Los Blancos were two points behind Barcelona after 27 games each when the season was suspended, almost two months back. Bundesliga is all set to re-start this weekend, with other European leagues also eyeing a possible return. The La Liga is aiming for mid-June resumption, while the remaining matches would be played by July-end.
