Dabang Delhi coach Krishan Kumar Hooda has stated that if his team performs well at the home leg then they are bound to do well overall in the League as well. He made the said comment after his men defeated the Bengaluru Bulls in a close match at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi yesterday.

Dabang Delhi coach Krishan Kumar Hooda was ecstatic after his men defeated the Zone-B table toppers Bengaluru Bulls in a close encounter 32-31. The win gave Delhi based team much needed boost as they are only left with four more matches to make it through the playoffs. Delhi now sit on the third position in Zone-A with a total of 55 points from 18 matches.

“I am overjoyed with the performance. It was perfect. If you play well at home, you are bound to do well. I would also like to thank the fans. Their support has been overwhelming. With the backing of our fans, we will continue to do well,” Hooda said.

“If you assess our fixtures, I think we’ve been comprehensively beaten only twice. So, we’ve managed to keep it close in almost all our matches. We’ve won some and lost some. In the Playoffs, it’s all about who makes fewer mistakes,” Hooda added.

With this edition of Pro Kabaddi now entering its final 30 days the race to the playoffs will only get hotter from here on. Two teams in U Mumba and Gujarat Fortunegiants have already made it through to the playoffs but remaining spots are up for grabs. But Joginder Singh Narwal asserted that he will not focus on the playoffs until his team is through.

“We aren’t even through with our home leg, the playoffs are far off. We aren’t concerned about that yet. We’ll think about it after we’ve qualified,” Joginder Narwal commented.

On the other hand, Bengaluru Bulls who were looking invincible at one stage of the tournament have lost three of their last five encounters, yet they sit pretty on the top of the table in Zone-B due to their performance in the first half of the tournament.

“I was born and brought up in Delhi and played for Delhi as well. But as a coach in VIVO Pro Kabaddi, I’ve found it impossible to win here. When Pawan Kumar Sehrawat scored two bonus points towards the end, I told him to try and get a touch point as well. We started off poorly and in trying to compensate, we kept making uncharacteristic mistakes,” said Randhir Singh.

Randhir also added that they did made a comeback into the match but it was already too late and they ultimately lost by a single point.

"Yes, and we almost did. We fell short by one. But it wasn’t meant to be. The rally towards the end was magnificent though. Had we taken a touch when I asked Sehrawat to, we could have tied, if not won the match," he added.

Captain of Bengaluru Bulls though rued the mistakes in the match said that they will try to win all the remaining matches and will focus on topping their zone.

“Like the coach emphasized, we couldn’t settle into the contest early on. And giving up a seven-point lead midway through the first half didn’t help our cause either. In trying to overcome that, we made some bad plays.The aim is to top the zone. We have five games left and we’ll try to win them all. We need to listen to the coach’s instructions and implement them on the mat,” Kumar said.
