UP Yoddha’s assistant coach Arjun Singh has expressed his happiness after winning the game against defending champions Bengaluru Bulls and termed it as a “satisfying” victory. The assistant coach also stated that the inclusion of Sumit at the left corner has given the team a good balance.

UP Yoddha managed to get the better of Bengaluru Bulls in their previous game of the ongoing seventh edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. Left corner defender Sumit and the raiding duo of Shrikant Jadhav and Monu Goyat helped the team script a 35-33 win against the defending champions. Assistant coach of the UP team Arjun Singh is delighted with his team’s performance and heaped praise on the players at the press conference.

“This victory feels really good, particularly since it was against such a top team, which has so many stars in its ranks. They even had the highest scorer of this season so far, Pawan Sehrawat. So this victory is very satisfying,” Arjun told reporters.

Sumit was the top performer in the defence as he bagged a High Five against the Bulls which had the likes of Rohit Kumar and Pawan Sehrawat in the raiding unit. With skipper Nitesh Kumar at the right corner, Sumit, at the left, has provided the much-needed balance to UP’s defence. Arjun also spoke about the same after the win against the Bulls.

“Sumit is a young talent. I told him to not worry about winning or losing and just play his natural game. It doesn’t matter who wins or lose. What matters is that he showcases what he has on the mat and he performed accordingly. He played fearlessly and lent our team a good balance,” UP’s assistant coach explained.

UP decided not to include senior raider Rishank Devadiga in the team and it was young Surinder Gill who was included in the starting 7. Although Gill couldn’t even open his account, Arjun said that the inclusion was to keep some amount of suspense in the starting 7.

“If we would have played our three main raiders it might have become predictable. We wanted to keep some amount of suspense when it comes to our playing seven. That is why we brought a young raider into the mix and went with only two of our big names,” the coach concluded.
