U Mumba captain Fazel Atrachali has said that they were able to win against Gujarat Fortunegiants because they executed their plan and played as a unit. He also talked about Abhishek Singh’s performance as the raider scored another super 10 and how they were in control of the proceedings.
U Mumba won against Gujarat Fortunegiants with the scoreline of 31-25. Mumba gained an edge against Gujarat as they were able to inflict an all-out 11 minutes into the match and were up by 11-6 then. Though Gujarat came back in the game and the first half ended with a scoreline of 16-16, U Mumba won the game because in the second half, they didn’t let the opposition’s raiders make a play. They were confident and sharp in the defence and that stood out.
“We were in control of proceedings throughout the match. We executed our plan as a team and played as a team. When we do that, we are difficult to beat,” Fazel Atrachali said in the post-match press conference.
After the first half, the scores were at a draw for a while but U Mumba managed to go ahead and they sealed the win by inflicting another all-out on the Fortunegiants taking the point difference to six.Â
The defence did well because every defender contributed to the score. Surinder Singh was the top scorer for Mumba for the second match in a row as he scored four tackle points in five attempts. In raiding, the task was a bit tougher as neither Arjun Deshwal nor Rohit Baliya was able to get going so all the weight went on Abhishek’s shoulders and he did very well despite that. He scored 11 raid points and also completed yet another super 10 in this Season.
“Abhishek is a big player for us and he’s proving why,” Atrachali signed off.
