After losing the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Virat Kohli pinpointed the shortcomings they are having match after match, which sums up the story of their season. The RCB skipper didn’t shy away from giving credit to Hyderabad and termed them as the best bowling side of the tournament.

Despite looking like favorites in the match against table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad, needing just 19 runs off 12 balls, Bangalore once again choked in the situation and threw the game away. Talking about the match scenario, Virat Kohli looked clearly disappointed in his post-match presentation interview and described it as their story of this season so far.

"That's how this game goes. Not good enough, not up to the mark. We deserve to lose this game. Didn't show enough application. The kind of shots we played was not on at that stage. Mandeep, de Grandhomme showed there was a chance if you got stuck in. This has been the story of our season. 10-15 lesser would've been ideal, should have done better with the ball, we were up to the mark on the field. If you have strong characters, you will always do well," said Kohli, as quoted by India Today.

RCB, who needed a victory to stay alive in the league, suffered a five-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal in Hyderabad on Monday. Chasing a modest 147 for a win, RCB managed to score 55 runs in the powerplay with the loss of 1 wicket. SRH bowlers bowled well to contain the batting line up and wickets fell in regular intervals. However, towards the end of the innings, Colin De Grandhomme and Mandeep Singh played brilliantly to get past the score but ultimately stayed short by 5 runs. Kohli was quick to praise the SRH players for holding their nerves under pressure and termed them as the best bowling department of this season.

"SRH had a few guys who did well under pressure, that's been the story of their season. They understand strengths, know their limitations. That's why they've been successful. From the bowling point of view, SRH is the strongest. Overall, maybe you'd pick Kings XI or CSK," Kohli added.

Though mathematically, it’s looked like RCB has still a chance to qualify for the playoff after having 3 wins from 10 matches; practically it seems impossible, looking at the points table.
