The tickets of the finals of the Indian Premier League 2019 were sold off in a little over two minutes leaving the fans miffed as there was no transparency or accountability whatsoever. The finals will be played on May 12 at Hyderabad between Mumbai Indians and the winner of qualifier two.

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) opened the sale for the tickets of the final game of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday. There was no prior notice put out and the sale was announced only by a flyer. However, the fans who logged in on the third party vendor EventsNow to by the tickets were in for a rude shock as they were sold out in no time.

"How can all the tickets be sold within minutes? It is quite baffling and the BCCI has to give an answer for depriving the fans of a chance to watch the final," said a former HCA (Hyderabad Cricket Association) executive committee member while requesting anonymity, reported TNN.

"EventsNow or the BCCI should come out in the open and clear the air," added the official.

The capacity of the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is over 38000 and generally, only around 25,000 to 30,000 tickets are for sale but there is no transparency this time. As per sources, tickets in denominations of Rs 1000, Rs 1500, Rs 2000, Rs 2500, Rs 5000, Rs 10000, Rs 12500, Rs 15000 and Rs 22500 were supposed to be sold.

However, EventsNow only sold tickets of denomination Rs 1500, Rs 2000, Rs 2500 and Rs 5000. This further raised questions on the lack of transparency and to make things worse, the vendor or even the apex governing body failed to take any responsibility or even reveal any details.

"I cannot give any details. We are selling tickets that have been given to us. It is the BCCI who should give out the details; we are not authorised to do so," said Sudheer Reddy, the Business Development Manager of EventsNow.
