India Green batsman Priyam Garg was hit on the neck while fielding at silly point on the final day of his side's clash against India Red in Alur. Garg’s helmet had a neck guard which softened the impact of the incident which took place on the last ball of the 138th over of India Red’s innings.

En route to a 56-ball 64 – his maiden first-class half-century – Avesh Khan punched a Rahul Chahar delivery off the back foot straight into the neck of Garg at silly point. Although conscious, the 18-year-old was visibly in pain as the physio applied an ice-pack to the injured area. Soon, an ambulance was brought onto the field and as a precaution, he was taken to the hospital to run some tests.

Meanwhile, Khan's fifty helped India Red narrowly escape a first-innings deficit against India Green’s total of 440. After Mahipal Lomror fell yesterday for 126, India Red was in trouble of conceding a lead that may have seen them miss out on the spot in the final. However, Avesh and Sandeep Warrier – who only contributed five –  added 73 for the tenth wicket. Avesh hit two fours and seven sixes in his 64.

Despite conceding the lead, India Green was ensured of a spot in the final, courtesy of their higher quotient and grinding out 54 overs on the final day to end with 98 for the loss of three wickets. The result means that India Green will take on India Red in the final starting from August 4 at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.
