Sanjay Majrekar believes MS Dhoni will stay in the team as long as he is the best wicketkeeper-batsman in India

Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar believes MS Dhoni's future in the Indian team is dependent on his wicketkeeper-batsman stature in the country. Dhoni equaled the world record of ODI stumpings in the second ODI against Sri Lanka while leading India to a slender 3-wicket win over the hosts.

MS Dhoni has been under tremendous pressure in recent days owing to his inconsistent performances in ODIs. The former Indian captain has struggled to make an impact on the games with the bat but has been brilliant behind the stumps. While a lot of cricketing experts are still decoding Dhoni's place in the Indian side, Sanjay Manjrekar believes the Ranchi lad will continue to stay as long as he is the best wicketkeeper-batsman in the country.

Rishabh Pant is being seen as a good prospect to succeed Dhoni but the youngster has not been able to get a place in the ODI team owing to Dhoni's presence in the side.

On the other hand, Dhoni yet again proved his worth in the Indian team in the second ODI against Sri Lanka. After a good day behind the stumps, the 36-year old made his way out to the crease with India struggling at 115/5. Not only did Dhoni keep his nerves under pressure but also guided Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a crucial stage of the match. Dhoni's calm and composed presence at the crease resulted in the 100-run partnership between him and Bhuvneshwar which was enough for India to steal the game away from the hosts. The win helped India take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series against Sri Lanka.
