The internet world was on fire after Virat Kohli ignored Jasprit Bumrah’s suggestion to gift him a wicket in the first innings and Kemar Roach really came close to achieve the same feat. The entire Windies team were on the floor after an Ajinkya Rahane inside edge went past leg stump by a whisker.
Just imagine, just imagine how incredible it would have been to witness two pacers scalping two hat-tricks in two days. It was actually in the close sight, and a piece of blessing from the lady luck for Roach, or the lack of it for Rahane, could have made it just incredible.Â
After getting the better of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli on the first two balls of the 21st over, Roach was aiming the hat-trick within sight. However, he didn’t overthink and normally walked back to his bowling crease in order to bowl the next delivery to Indian vice-captain Rahane.Â
He bowled a back of length delivery outside off and Rahane went for a dangle in a very loose manner. The subsequent inward movement that was generated added to Rahane’s woes as the latter had already past leg stump off the inside edge. However, he remained lucky as the ball moved past the stumps without disturbing the woodwork and Roach was denied a historic hat-trick.
After seeing his feat being denied with the cruelty of the luck, he was down on his haunches, while a few of his teammates have collapsed in agony on the ground. Quite rightfully so as a bit of luck could have seen him on the other side of the result.Â
