Though political tensions have ruined cricketing ties between India and Pakistan, the players continue to have an amicable relationship with each other regardless of it. One such moment between them in the Champions Trophy final has been selected as the ‘Spirit of the Cricket’ moment of 2017 by ICC.

Things have been deteriorating off the cricket field between India and Pakistan for years now. After the Indian government has prevented BCCI from scheduling any bilateral series with their neighbours over the last few years. This has resulted in Pakistan claiming damages amounting to $70 million citing the MoU signed by the two countries.

However, the bitterness could hardly found seen when both the sides took the field at the ICC Champions Trophy. After the tournament favourites, India, suffered a mammoth 180-run defeat at the hands of their arch-rivals and underdogs, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh were seen cracking jokes with Shoaib Malik and Pakistan’s bowling coach Azhar Mahmood during the award ceremony. Kohli, at one point, even burst into laughter after Malik seemingly narrated a funny incident gesturing with his hands.

The video clip had gone viral almost instantly with people from both sides of the border drooling over it. Cricket’s governing body has chosen it as the ‘Spirit of Cricket’ moment for the year 2017 as they rightly believe that every country could learn a thing or two by the warm camaraderie shared by two nations, who have been at loggerheads with each other at the border for years.

Ravi Rampaul or Shane Shillingford? Who will take more wickets?
