Coach's job is to complement the captain, says Michael Clarke on Kohli-Kumble spat
Michael Clarke has suggested that a coach's job is to complement the captain from the sidelines while speaking on the speculated rift between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble. However, Clarke has added that the rift is just a sign of the great relationship that the two share.
The speculations of a rift between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble continue to make rounds in the cricketing world and this time it was former Australian captain Michael Clarke who gave his views on the alleged spat between the two.

"In the end, it's a result-oriented game, where a captain will be judged on the basis of wins and losses," Clarke added.
However, the former Australian batsman stated that the rift was a sign of a remarkable relationship between the two which could always be resolved by being honest to each other.
"There are bound to be disagreements but that can be sorted in closed environments. In any great relationship, you get challenged," he said

Clarke then went on to cite an inspiring example to explain his philosophy.

Virat Kohli so far has experienced success in his short stint as the Indian captain. Clarke, who was known for his subtle captaincy, lauded Kohli for his brilliant captaincy in the Champions Trophy.
"Virat is a fantastic captain. He competes hard and the way one leads the side is a reflection of one's personality. He has been tactically brilliant in this tournament so far," he commented.
Clarke was seen dodging questions regarding the controversial pay dispute between Cricket Australia and the national cricketers, who have indirectly threatened to walk out of the Ashes if their demands were not met.
"I don't know what transpired but certain things need to be sorted in private. Ultimately all of us want that this great game of cricket should grow but authorities should also be aware that they need to look after the benefit of players.Whether it's the BCCI or Cricket Australia, it's the same for both," said Clarke.
The former Australian batsman had earlier predicted India and Australia to feature in the finals of the tournament. However, after Australia was shown the exit door by hosts England Clarke believes that it would be India and England who would fight it out for the title in the finals of the tournament.
