BCCI’s mistake led to the selection of Deepak Chahar in the Board President’s XI squad, but it was later realized and Deepak Chahar was replaced by his brother, Rahul Chahar. Moreover, Shubman Gill sustained a side strain and has been ruled out of the series against New Zealand ‘A’.

BCCI had a head in hands moment when they accidentally put the "wrong Chahar" in the Board's XI team. Rajasthan medium pacer Deepak Chahar’s name reflected on the initial Board President’s XI squad release sent by the BCCI on Monday. However, later it was acknowledged that the selectors had actually picked leg-spinner and Deepak Chahar’s cousin, Rahul Chahar, as a member in the squad. Currently, Rahul Chahar is an India U-19 player and was in fine form during the recent colts' tour to England.

“It was inadvertently mentioned that Deepak Chahar would represent the Board President’s XI team for the warm-up matches against New Zealand ahead of their ODI series against India. Rahul Chahar will feature in the squad that will play two matches at CCI in Mumbai,” BCCI told PTI on Tuesday in a media release.

Moreover, India A squad player, Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the one-day series against New Zealand ‘A’ after suffering from a side strain. He injured himself in a training session in Mohali and has been advised bed rest for a week. Ankit Bawne, who scored 162 in the second “unofficial Test”, has been called up to be a part of the team for the first three matches.
