Virat Kohli overtakes Brendon Mccullum to become highest run-getter in T20I chases

In his 50th T20I of his career, Virat Kohli has broken the world record for most runs in a T20I run chase, overtaking Brendon McCullum's score of 1016 runs. Yesterday, against Sri Lanka, the Indian skipper played an 82-run knock to guide India to victory in the only T2OI of the series.
Kohli's ability to anchor a run chase has been second to none and yesterday, the Indian skipper, who played his 50th T20I, made the light work of Sri Lanka's target scoring a fluent 82-run innings to take India home. In the process, he also became the highest run-getter while chasing in the shortest format of the game.
The 28-year-old now has 1016 runs while chasing and went past former New Zealand skipper Mccullum’s tally of 1006 runs. David Warner (892), Martin Guptill (882) and Mohammad Shahzad (819) are placed in the next three positions respectively.
Kohli also became the third highest run-scorer in T20Is with 1830 runs which he scored with an average of 53.82 and needs only 60 runs to go past Tilakratne Dilshan's tally of 1889 runs. Mccullum grabbed the first spot on the list scoring 2140 runs in his career.
Yesterday, Sri Lanka started really well to get the partisan crowd behind them but failed to keep up the intensity and slipped to another loss to hand India their ninth win of the tour. After setting 171, India polished off the chase in the last over with seven wickets in hand. Virat Kohli made 82 while Manish Pandey boosted his chances of an extended run with the national team by scoring an unbeaten 51.
