IPL 2018 | We still have eight games remaining, reminds RCB player Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has admitted that Royal Challengers Bangalore are in a tough spot but believes that they still have eight games to turn things around. Chahal has also revealed that he did have some concerns regarding the bowling department's performance in the death-overs of the past few games.
Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore have always been blessed with a host of big names in their squad but have failed to show the results to justify their star-studded squad. However, things were different this time around as, under the guidance of former Kiwi skipper Daniel Vettori, the RCB franchise claimed to possess a ‘balanced squad’ for the first time in their history.
But after just two wins from six matches, Kohli & Co. have not managed to make any significant strides up the IPL standings. RCB player Yuzvendra Chahal admitted that although things are not ideal for Kohli and boys, they still have eight matches to play for and turn things around in their favor.
“The last match was a bit disappointing for us. It’s still okay, it’s been six games and we still have eight remaining. You saw how we bounced back in 2015 and 2016. We are not thinking too much about these six games, and are rather focusing on the remaining eight games,” Chahal was quoted as saying by Wisden India.
After scoring 208 runs against Chennai Super Kings, RCB failed to contain MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu and eventually lost the game as well. Chahal added that their bowling in the death overs remained to be a concern for the coach and skipper, but did not reveal any details as to whether there would be any changes to the team whatsoever.
“In the last couple of games, we have given away a lot of runs in the death overs. “We are focusing on who will bowl in those last five overs,” Chahal added.
