Watch | Arjun Tendulkar bowls to Virat Kohli at India’s net session
Arjun Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar's son, was seen bowling to Virat Kohli at the Indian team net session ahead of the clash against Ireland and even got some valuable bowling tips from Ravi Shastri. India would start their tour with a T20I match against Ireland on 27th June at the Village.
India-U19 pacer Arjun Tendulkar was one of the net bowlers at team India’s net session ahead of the series against Ireland. The 6-foot-tall bowler bowled to Indian batsmen, especially Virat Kohli, at team India’s nets. Arjun, son of Sachin Tendulkar, also got words of wisdom from Ravi Shastri, head coach of Indian cricket team. He has been selected in the India U-19 four-day side for the tour of Sri Lanka that starts on July 17.
This was not the first time when Arjun bowled to Indian batsmen. Last year as well, he was one of the net bowlers ahead of India-New Zealand ODI in Mumbai. There as well, he got valuable tips from Shastri and Bharat Arun, team India’s bowling coach. He also bowled to Kohli in the nets and tested other Indian batsmen with his bouncers.
Arjun has also been a regular net bowler at Lord’s. Last year, he bowled to the India women’s team ahead of their big final of World Cup 2017 against England. He also bowled to England men's team before the Lord’s Test against South Africa last year.
The left-handed pacer was news in when one of his yorkers hit English batsman Jonny Bairstow on the toe post which he hobbled off the field. It was the end of Bairstow's net session after facing just one delivery from Arjun.
The 18-year-old player would soon be back in India to attend pre-departure camp at National Cricket Academy (NCA) before the team flies to Sri Lanka for the series. WV Raman would oversee the preparations at NCA in the absence of Rahul Dravid, who has left with India A squad to England for the List A and first-class fixtures. Anuj Rawat would lead India in four-day games while Aryan Juyal has been appointed the captain in the one-day format.
India would be facing Ireland in two T20Is, scheduled on 27th and 29th June, before the all-important England tour.
