Don't know if I'll ever play for Chennai Super Kings, says Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik, who belongs to Tamil Nadu, has stated that he always wanted to play for Chennai Super Kings since the very first edition, but luck never gave him the chance to represent the franchise. However, he was quick to add that it is a big honour for him to lead the Kolkata side.
After Karthik’s terrific performance in the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy, people started calling him the best option to replace MS Dhoni in the Indian team for the limited-overs format. The Tamil Nadu lad slammed a match-winning six on the last ball of the Nidahas Trophy final against Bangladesh and now, he is being preparing himself for the upcoming season of the IPL in which he will lead the Kolkata Knight Riders.
While it is indeed a happy news for him to lead the two-time winners KKR, he revealed that it was always a dream to represent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since the very first edition of the league.
"Heart of hearts, I thought I'll be playing for CSK from the very first year. It's been 10 years and it has never happened. The dream is getting smaller by the day. I don’t know if I'll ever play for CSK," he was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
Karthik was born and brought up in Chennai and now, represents Tamil Nadu in the domestic circuit. He is a fairly popular figure in Tamil Nadu, but as the luck would have it, he could never really got a chance to don the yellow jersey. However, he added that it has been a pleasure for him to lead the Kolkata-based franchise.

Karthik, who will lead an IPL side for the first time, has been a regular feature in the T20 league and has so far represented Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, and Gujarat Lions in the 10 years of the league.
