MS Dhoni shaved off his head himself after winning the 2011 World Cup final, reveals Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh revealed that MS Dhoni locked himself after winning 2011 World-Cup final and came out after shaving his head himself. The veteran off-spinner also noted that Virat Kohli's injury can be proved as a blessing in disguise and he is still good without playing any county cricket.
Having played for India and in the IPL for two high-profile teams in a successful career which saw him picking 417 wickets in 103 Tests, Harbhajan Singh knows most of the secrets and funny habits of India's top cricketers. Revealing what happened in the night after World-Cup triumph in 2011, the
"The night when we were celebrating our World Cup triumph in 2011, MS Dhoni suddenly went to his room and came back like '
Virat Kohli's plan of a Surrey stint ahead of the five-Test series against England was dealt with a massive blow as a neck injury sustained during an IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad ruled him out of the County commitments. Harbhajan Singh has observed that the rest will give the Indian skipper ample time to prepare for the England tour as he needed rest after a hectic IPL season.
“I feel it (Virat’s injury) should be okay as there is a lot of time. It is good that he (Virat) is not playing county because he needs rest as IPL is a very hectic tournament, it is not that easy. After IPL all players feel there should be a break of 15 days. So in my opinion, it is good that he (Virat) is not going to play county cricket. His body will get rest, he will recover and much better prepared for the bigger things. I am sure he is as good as a player, whether he plays county cricket or not,” the 37-year-old spinner added.
Harbhajan Singh also opened up about Ambati Rayudu, with whom he shared the dressing room for a decade while playing for the Mumbai Indians till last year before both moved to the Chennai Super Kings this season.
"He's an introvert. He doesn't mingle with people too much. When I was with MI, I hardly saw him outside the ground. Can you believe it that he doesn't even have a phone! There's a
Harbhajan believes that the present team has the potential to win in England. India is touring England for a full-fledged series which includes three ODIs, as many T20s and five Test matches.
“Every-time they (India) tour abroad, we feel we have a team to win abroad but in the end... how the wickets are going to be, whether our fast bowling unit will be fit during that time, a lot will depend (on) whether Virat will be batting at his best,” he said.
“But (it is a) great opportunity and I see this team has the potential to win. Keeping that in mind fitness has to be at the top level. It is not going to be that easy to go out and start winning. It is going to be a lot of hard work, but this team has the capability to do so,” he added.
Harbhajan, who had shifted base to Chennai Super Kings after staying a decade with Mumbai Indians, has termed his journey with CSK this season as a great one.
“It's been a great journey coming from one brilliant team to another, luckily things did not change too much for me, we played final there (with MI) and playing the final here (for CSK).”
