Ranji Trophy | Elite Group B | Kerala declares innings at 495 against Hyderabad

Kerala put up a big total of 495 runs before declaring their innings at the loss of six wickets. In other matches in the Group-B Bengal put a good first innings total of 380 runs against Himachal Pradesh and on a similar note Punjab were all out for a big score of 414 runs in their first innings too

Kerala vs Hyderabad

Brief Scores: Kerala 295/6d ( Sachin Baby 147, V A Jagadeesh 113*; Mehdi Hasan 2/135) lead Hyderabad 1/0 by 494 runs.

Kerala started their innings from 231 for four on the second day and lost only two more wickets before they declared their innings at a big score of 495. The Kerala batsmen took 164 overs to score that many runs. Sachin Baby (147) and Vasudevan Arundhati Jagadeesh (113*) were the star performers for Kerala. Apart from them, Jalaj Saxena and Sanju Samson also made a half century each. Saketh Sairam was able to bag three wickets but spent 110 runs in doing so. Hyderabad scored just one run before stumps were called on Day 2.

Himachal vs Bengal

Brief Scores: Bengal 380/10 (Manoj Tiwari 55; P Jaswal 5/81) lead Himachal Pradesh 124/3 (AK Bains 79*; Ashoke Dinda 2/25) by 256 runs.

Bengal added 114 runs to their overnight score to finish their innings at a score of 380 runs before they were bowled by Himachal. Manoj Tiwari and Anustup Majumdar scored a half century each and aided by many contributions from their teammates Bengal were able to make a good score. For Himachal Pankaj Jaiswal (5/81) picked the most number of wickets. Apart from him Rishi Dhawan (2/56), Prashant Chopra (2/29) and Gurvinder Singh (1/55) were also among wickets. Himachal, in reply, made 124/3 at the end of the day’s play. Ankush Bain (79*) and Akash Vashisht (0) were batting for Himachal at stumps. 

Andhra vs Punjab

Brief Scores: Punjab 414/10 (Sanvir Singh 110; Ayyappa Bandaru 3/78) lead Andhra Pradesh 54/3 (H Vihari 19; Mayank Markande 1/8) by 360 runs.

Punjab made a formidable total of 414 run on day 2 considering that they had lost six wickets for 261 runs on day one. For Punjab, apart from Sanvir Singh (110), who scored a century, Mandeep Singh (68), Shubham Gill (56), and Mayank Markande (68) also made valuable contributions with the bat. Bandaru Ayyappa was the pick of the bowlers for Andhra as he bagged three wickets for 78 runs. Karn Sharma also picked three wickets in the match. In reply, Andhra lost their three batsmen at a total of 54 runs with Siddharth Kaul, Barinder Sran, and Mayank Markande getting a tick in the wickets' column.

Tamil Nadu vs Madhya Pradesh

Brief Scores: Madhya Pradesh: 393/10 (Rajat Patidar 196; R Ashwin 4/85 ) lead Tamil Nadu 0/0 by 393 runs. 

Playing a slow innings Madhya Pradesh were finally all out for 393 runs in 157.4 overs. Rajat Patidar missed a double century getting out on a score of 196 runs. Apart from Patidar, Aryaman Birla(51), Naman Ojha( 45) and Shubham Sharma(43) played handy innings for MP. For Tamil Nadu, Ravi Ashwin and M Mohammed picked four wickets each. Vijay Shankar and Rahil Shah also picked one wicket each in the match. At the end of the day’s play, Tamil Nadu played out two overs without troubling the scorers.
