I will play in Australia the way I played in England, asserts Hanuma Vihari

Hanuma Vihari has stated that he will take his learnings from the tour of England to Australia and will try to better his performance against the kangaroos. Hanuma Vihari made his debut in England and scored a steady fifty in his first Test innings to impress the national selectors.

When India toured England early this year, there were few positives for the Indian team. The debut of 25-year-old Hanuma Vihari was one of them. After being selected in the Indian Test squad, he played fine cricket in the debut match against England where he had scored a half-century and had also picked three wickets. Now with the Test series against Australia is to begin on December 6th, he harbours the hope to better his performance and score a century down-under.

"I will play in Australia the way I played in England. I am ready to bat at any position. If my captain asks me to open, I will. If he asks me to bat in the middle or lower order, I am ready for that as well," Vihari said.

"Australians have a great bowling attack. My captain, Virat Kohli and other seniors helped me in England. I am taking everything I learnt to Australia," Vihari told Timesofindia.com in an exclusive interview.

It was a fine debut by the 25-year-old when he was picked ahead of Karun Nair in the final Test against England when India had already lost the series. Though he failed in his first innings of the debut match he scored a half-century in the second innings thus showing the potential to play in difficult conditions.

"I scored a fifty in England and if given a chance I would like to convert it into a century in Australia," a confident Vihari told TimesofIndia.com.

"Getting a fifty overseas and that too on my maiden international tour was a big thing for me. I will try to continue this kind of performance in Australia," the 24-year-old said.

After drawing the T20 series 1-1, India and Australia will now play a four-match Test series which will begin on 6th December at Adelaide Oval. India will try to win their first Test series ever in Australia. Hence looking at the importance of the series, Vihari added that he is thankful to his captain to the faith shown in him.

"It is going to be a big series for me. I have worked hard for this. Want to thank my captain for showing faith in me,’ he said.
