Mumbai sealed a spot in the finals of this year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy after they defeated Hyderabad via the VJD method by 60 runs. A quickfire 61 off 44 balls from Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer’s 53-ball 55* was enough to negate Rohit Rayudu's efforts and reach the finals of the tournament.

Mumbai sealed a spot in the finals of this year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy in a rain-marred encounter against Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. A young but skilled side which included Prithvi Shaw and Rohit Sharma prevailed against Ambati Rayudu’s side, who lost by 60 runs via the VJD method.

Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bat first in today’s match but were put in a tough spot after openers, Tanmay Agarwal and Akshath Reddy were dismissed in the early stages. But a battling 121* from Rohit Rayudu who remained not out till the end was enough to spur the rest of the team to do well with the bat. Tushar Deshpande, who was adjudged the man of the match, picked up 3/55 as Hyderabad reached a total of 246 after 50 overs.

Chasing a total of 247, Mumbai began their innings with international batsmen - Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw taking the crease. While Sharma was dismissed for a paltry 17, Shaw batted on to reach a score 61 off just 44 deliveries. Fellow Indian batsman and skipper Shreyas Iyer also bagged a half-century as he steered his team to a total of 155/2 after 25 overs. The third wicket duo also put on an unbeaten 73-run stand before rain stopped play.

This result extended Mumbai's unbeaten run in the tournament and they will meet the winner of the Delhi-Jharkhand clash in the final on Saturday.
