According to TOI reports, students created a ruckus at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium after they were denied tickets for student quota the upcoming T20 of India and Windies scheduled for November 6. Earlier, some local newspapers had reported that UPCA had opened the student galleries for reserved prices.

Students had gathered outside the stadium from the surrounding villages with their ID cards, some since five in the morning, after it was reported that they would get the 1000Rs tickets at a reduced 450 Rs under the student quota. However, when they were denied by the ground officials refusing all previous claims, it resulted in a chaos.

It had started after a high-level meeting of Chetan Chauhan, Sports Minister, UP, with the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) officials had decided the lesser price for student also stating that tickets would be put on sale at various colleges and schools in the city.

However, upon the refusal, the students blocked the Shaheed Path, which was already crowded by vehicles who had come to buy offline tickets. They disrupted the traffic and a few also tried breaking into the ticket window. Eventually, police had been called to control who would now be stationed to avoid further chaos

One of the students, Mohit Tiwari, who came all the way from Barabanki was disappointed and told TOI, “I came here after reading in a newspaper that the student gallery tickets would be sold today. But now I am being told that the tickets will now be available only on November 2. I feel cheated by this. I came all the way from Barabanki just to be told this is a wasted effort.”
