The three-member Cricket Advisory Committee that is led by former India captain Kapil Dev will conduct interviews for the candidates of India’s head coach position on Friday, August 16. Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy will join Dev at the BCCI headquarters on the said date.

According to reports by Sportstar, all the three members of the committee have been formally informed about the date. “It will be a one-day affair. We have e-mailed them the date for the interview. There are a few applications that have come in, and we are just in the process of short-listing the final candidates,” one of the BCCI officials attested.

The BCCI have reportedly received around 2,000 applications for various coaching profiles, and only a few refined big names are in the race for the role of head coach. Even though India captain, Virat Kohli, has without any hesitation, backed Ravi Shastri to continue as head coach, the board will only abide by the final decision of the committee. “It is entirely up to the committee to take a call,” the BCCI official said.

While Shastri's contract expires after India’s tour to the West Indies, big names like Mike Hesson, Tom Moody, Robin Singh and Lalchand Rajput sent in applications for the top job.

While the three-member committee will pick the head coach, the candidates for the other positions will be interviewed by the chairman of selectors MSK Prasad.
