Rishabh Pant said that his focus is only on improving each and every game he plays without concentrating too much on the criticism. Pant played a good knock of 71 to help India reach a total of 288 but West Indies chased the target comfortably thanks to a brilliant hundred from Shimron Hetmyer.

Indian team again felt the pinch of Jasprit Bumrah's absence as the West Indies comfortably chased down the target of 289 with 8 wickets in hand, thanks to a fine century from young Shimron Hetmyer. Another youngster though played a good knock for India and he was none other than the under-fire wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

"As a youngster, I just want to improve with each and every game that I am playing for India. It's a learning curve for me. So whatever I can do to help my team have a good score on the board was what I was focusing on," Pant said in the post-match press conference.

"When I and Shreyas Iyer were batting, the thinking was how to bat till the 35th-40th over because 50 overs is a very long period. So since three quick wickets had fallen, stringing a good partnership was important so that we could capitalize later," he asserted.

Pant scored 71 and most importantly showed the intent of making a partnership with Shreyas Iyer after India lost three quick wickets and both played really well helping India to a good total despite the loss. Pant looked solid and he controlled his natural instincts to build a long partnership with Iyer. Further, he asserted that there was nothing called a 'natural' game as it all depends on what the team wants at that moment.

"When I was younger, I used to think about playing my natural game. But when I played international cricket I realized that there is nothing like a natural game. You need to play as per the requirement of the team and what the team demands from you," Pant further added.

With the likes of Sanju Samson waiting in the wings, Pant was under tremendous pressure to deliver and his recent T20 exploits with the bat were not that great with him throwing away his wicket at crucial stages of the game. However here, he showed patience and composure and it paid off for him. He is hopeful that with such batting he will be able to contribute more consistently for the team in the future.

"I would like to focus on my own process. Whatever talks go around is sometimes good sometimes bad. But presently, focusing on my game will be good for me." Pant stated.

"You have to believe in yourself, it does not matter what people around you talk about you. Sometimes you get runs sometimes you don't, but the process is always important," he concluded.
