You must have heard about batting and bowling momentum in a game of cricket, but 'signal momentum' must be very new for you. However, that was exactly what the umpire was guilty of today as he couldn’t control his 'momentum' and ended up calling a proper legitimate ball wide.

If too much of India-Australia cricket has already bored you, then don’t worry, it seems the umpires have decided to add some spice to it. In the first T20I in Vizag, the duo of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul found ball-bashing way too easy as they took on the pacers with elan. It was only when the introduction of Adam Zampa that Australia sensed the opportunity as it was during that time KL Rahul lost his timing and played a lot of mistimed shots against the Australian.

To finish off his second over of the evening, Zampa steamed in but ended up bowling a wide down the leg-side to KL Rahul. The leg-spinner, by then, had understood that bowling on the pads was not an option as Rahul seemed to be in great touch with the bat. So he decided to go on the off-side but ended up bowling way too outside of the off stump.

Umpire Nitin Menon was so much on his momentum that he couldn’t control himself and stretched his hands to signal that wide. When Zampa saw the umpire calling it a wide, he was completely surprised by that and couldn’t believe it. The replay also attested to his thought as the ball was well within the tramline and could never have been called it a wide.
