Harmanpreet Kaur has stated that there is no misunderstanding between India Women’s ODI team captain Mithali Raj and her but also added that she can only say that for herself. At the Women’s T20 World Cup Mithali Raj was dropped for the semifinal match which India went on to lose.

The aftermath of Mithali Raj’s exclusion from the Indian team for the Women’s World T20 semifinal match was a controversial saga which led to interim coach Ramesh Powar’s removal and many soured relationships. But India’s T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur has come out and stated that as far as she is concerned there is no problems between her and Mithali Raj.

“I have met and spoken to her after all these events and we seemed to have moved on. I don’t think there has been any problem between me and Mithali. I can speak for myself. You have to speak to her and ask if she has a problem with me,” Kaur was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

Raj was dropped from the playing eleven of the semifinal match despite her two half-century performances just before the semifinal encounter. Later on, India went on to lose the semifinal match which stirred controversy around the selection policy as to why Raj was dropped despite putting in Woman of the match performances.

"When you play at an international level, you are mature enough to not let these things affect you. At the end of the day, what matters is you are playing for your country. A team is like a family where there are troubles and such issues keep cropping up, but they shouldn't be taken personally," she added.

After a long drawn tussle, Ramesh Powar was removed as the coach of the Indian women’s team and a new coach was chosen. But Kaur felt that the saga was unnecessarily highlighted in the media.

“I still feel that the situation should not have come to this but sometimes such things happen. I don’t think the issues should have been highlighted so much.” Kaur said.
