Sourav Ganguly has supported Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul stating that mistakes happen by human beings and both of them will realise it and be better persons in the future. The former skipper also mentioned that both of them being responsible people need to move on in life and not repeat the same.

Ever since the “Koffee with Karan” episode involving Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul was aired, life has become a living hell for the duo with every day since then bring a new shard of criticism. Pandya had made misogynistic comments on the show, which is hosted by Bollywood producer and director Karan Johar.

The all-rounder had spoken about hooking up with multiple women that created a huge uproar on social media and Rahul sharing the couch with the Baroda man had to bear the brunt of it. Both of them were instantly suspended by BCCI till the completion of the investigation and they were called back from the Australian tour as well.

Meanwhile, former skipper Sourav Ganguly has become the first major personality to come in support of the duo saying that humans make mistakes and they should make sure that it is not repeated in the future.

“People make mistakes. Let’s not get too far into that and I’m sure whoever has done it will realise and will come out as a better person. We are all human beings, we are not machines that everything you put in comes out perfect. So you’ve got to live life and let others live,” Ganguly told BBC News.

“They are responsible people and are human beings. They may be role models, but they are under pressure all the time to perform. Certain things happen and like everyone we should move on and ensure that it doesn’t happen again.”

Ganguly also gave examples of many Indian cricketers who have been great ambassadors of the game and role models for many people not just in India but also for citizens of other countries as well.

"Look at Virat Kohli, he is such a fantastic role model. India is a fortunate country, every generation produces players who all of us cherish, there was (Sunil) Gavaskar, then came (Sachin) Tendulkar, when Tendulkar finished people thought who's next, now it's Virat Kohli.

"A lot of these cricketers are fantastic human beings because they come from middle class backgrounds and fight their way up. Can you imagine 11 selected out of the millions play the game," the CAB president concluded.
