Sir Vivian Richards has stated that any contest between India and the West Indies have always been explosive action and he expects nothing different this time around as well. Sunil Gavaskar, in the same show, has added that he has nothing but respect for the Caribbean players ever since his debut.

Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards was arguably the greatest ever Windies batsman and had the audacity of putting the fear of gods into the opposition line-up. Against India, he had always been one of the lethal performers and although Indian cricket team started their journey from the abyss to be one of the top guns in the 80s, Richards was still a mesmerizing performer.

As India start their journey for a full series against the Windies, Richards stated that the series will be a well-fought encounter. "India-West Indies series have always seen explosive action and I don't expect anything less this time around. With the current form of the West Indies team, I look forward to them giving a tough competition to the Indian side," Richards was quoted as saying in a media release issued by official broadcasters.

Sunil Gavaskar, who made a memorable Test debut in the West Indies in 1971, smashing the Windies bowlers to score a career-defining 774 in one series, said he has "immense respect" for players from the Caribbean.

"West Indies will always hold a very special place in my heart since I started my career over there and have immense respect for their players," said Gavaskar in the same show.

India will play three T20s, as many ODIs and two Tests in their upcoming tour of USA and West Indies, starting August 3 in Florida. The two Tests will be played as a part of the ICC Championship and will have a total of 120 points up for grabs.
