VIDEO | Lasith Malinga rekindles memories of his prime with 'vintage' yorker to clean up Steve smith
It is often said, a lion may get old but never forgets how to hunt and the cliché stands true when Lasith Malinga’s cricket career is discussed. The veteran is in the twilight of his career and has been pulling off those toe-crushing yorkers with ease that leaves a batsman bewildered at the crease.

With more than six overs to go, Australia were looking to go all guns blazing and milk as many runs as possible in the death. With the top-order firing, they were comfortably placed at 278 for 3 with Steve Smith batting on 73 off 58 deliveries.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, had their death over specialist Lasith Malinga putting in the hard yards. On the third delivery of the 44th over, Malinga produced his trademark yorker to clean up Smith and pulled things back for his side. The batsman was completely outfoxed by Malinga’s slingy action and length as there was a huge gap between the bat and pad.
The delivery rekindled memories of Malinga’s prime, where he bowled it day in and day out. He still has it in him, but the frequency at which he does that has dropped down. Smith’s fall dented Australia’s innings as Sri Lanka managed to keep things tight in the next few overs.
