While questioning some of the decisions made by Sarfaraz Ahmed in the game against India Sachin Tendulkar added that Pakistan lacked imagination. Batting first India were able to get off to a great start, en route to scoring 336 in 50 overs, even though the wicket had assistance for pacers.

With Manchester getting a lot of rain over the last week, there was an expectation that the Pakistan pacers would be able to exploit the conditions since Shikhar Dhawan had also been ruled out for the game. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were able to navigate their way through the first spell and then opened their arms which saw the latter score a dominating 140.

While the Indian batsman did extremely well to put up a big score, Sachin Tendulkar laid some of the blame at the feet of Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed. Tendulkar explained that Sarfaraz lacked out of the box thinking and also questioned some of his field placements throughout the first innings of the game that ended in an 89 run loss for Pakistan.

"I thought he was confused because when Wahab was bowling he had a short mid-wicket. And when Shadab came on to bowl he had a slip for him. In these conditions, it becomes difficult for a leg-spinner to grip the ball, especially when he's not getting the right line and length. That is not the right way to approach a big game,” Tendulkar told India Today.

"They lacked imagination, lacked out of the box thinking. If the ball is not moving around much, you don't continue bowling over the wicket, Wahab went around the wicket but it was too late by then. Hassan was the only guy to get the ball to move off the surface. I would have told them to change the angle and do something different. I never thought we were going to lose a wicket.”
