Yuvraj Singh singled out Mumbai Indians teammate Jasprit Bumrah for special praise as he predicted that the latter will definitely be the best performing bowler in the upcoming World Cup. Singh also had positive words for MI all-rounder Hardik Pandya who has been in top-form in this year’s IPL.

Yuvraj Singh, a fresh acquisition by the Mumbai Indians franchise ahead of the 2019 season of the IPL, has found it hard to get time on the pitch due to the brilliance of other members in the team. The former Indian cricket team member has high hopes from his MI teammates who will be on board the plane to England for the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup which will start on May 30.

Singh heaped praise on teammate and India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah who has once again impressed in the domestic IPL this year as well. Bumrah has picked up a total of 15 wickets in this year’s tournament as Mumbai secured a spot in the top four.

"I don't play him in the nets. I tell him not to bowl to me.  Bumrah is amongst the top three pacers in world cricket at the moment. He's been winning us games. He's at his best when he's attacking the batsman. I'm definitely gunning for Bumrah as the best bowler in the World Cup," Yuvraj said at a promotional event ahead of the World Cup.

Yuvraj, who bagged the 2011 World Cup player of the tournament award, also talked up the performances of India all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Pandya has been in red hot form in this year’s IPL, scoring a total of 373 runs in 13 games at a strike rate of 197.35. Pandya picked 12 wickets and will be a key figure for India in the upcoming World Cup.

"Over the years, as an experienced player you know if someone is hitting the ball well, he is in great shape. He got 91 from 34 balls against KKR, probably the best innings I have seen in the IPL, just because he hit four quality bowlers he was batting against. When you are doing that, you know that someone is batting very well.

"I was actually having this conversation with him (Hardik) yesterday where I told him that ‘you have a great chance of performing really well with the ball and bat', the kind of form he is in at the moment. Definitely, the way he is batting at the moment, it is phenomenal and I hope he carries that form (into the World Cup). He has been bowling well in patches but it is all about how you handle the pressure," the 37-year-old added.
