Post his dismissal for just four runs against Pakistan and in particular Yasir Shah, Smith punished himself with a 3km run giving the team bus a miss. He, further, added that he would attempt not to throw away his wicket to the leg-spinner in Adelaide as they look to seal the series.

Australian ace Steve Smith was dismissed for just four runs in the First Test against Pakistan at Gabba, when he completely missed the line against the leg-spinner Yasir Shah. Just post the dismissal, Yasir Shah raised 7 fingers to indicate to Smith that he has dismissed him so many times in his Test career.

After his dismissal in the opener, the Australian’s domination at the top of batting charts in the Test format is under threat as Indian skipper Virat Kohli closes the gap in on his counterpart. Kohli is just 3 points away from the Australian after his masterclass at the Eden Gardens. Smith revealed that he rewards himself with a chocolate bar for his success and punishes himself with runs on the rare bad days he has on the field.

"I always punish myself when I get no runs, just like I reward myself when I score runs with a chocolate bar at the end of the night if I get a hundred. So yeah, if I get no runs I always like to have a run or go to the gym or do something just to give myself a bit of a punishment," Steve Smith said on Tuesday to the Guardian.

Smith, however, is confident that he will pull up his socks and be ready when the two teams face each other in the Pink-ball Test at Adelaide as Australia look to complete a white-wash over the visitors. The Australian added that the send-off would motivate him for the second Test.
