Hanuma Vihari parts ways with Andhra, rejoins Hyderabad ahead of 2021-22 domestic season

Hanuma Vihari will part ways with Andhra and will rejoin Hyderabad for the upcoming domestic season. Vihari, who had started his domestic career with Hyderabad from 2010-11 season, played for them till 2015-16, before switching to Andhra, where he captained the side when available.

Hanuma Vihari has confirmed that he will be rejoining Hyderabad for the 2021-22 domestic season, after getting a No Objection Certificate from Andhra Cricket Association.

Vihari has played 94 first class games till date, scoring 7261 runs with an average of 55. Overall, he has also featured in 80 List A and 74 T20 games, since he first started in 2010.

He captained Andhra during his five-year stint, which had begun in 2015/16. Reflecting on his experience with the team, the 27-year-old stated that it was a privilege to lead the side and also he was proud of the way his team played. 

"I am taking this opportunity to inform everyone that I am parting ways with Andhra cricket association on good terms,” Vihari tweeted on Wednesday, September 15. 

“I have had the privilege to captain and represent Andhra for the past five years. We have blossomed into a team that we can be proud of and I hereby thank all my teammates, coaches and office bearers of the Association for the constant support.

"I will be part of the Hyderabad Cricket Association from the coming season.” 

Vihari made his Test debut against England at The Oval in 2018, where he registered scores of 56 and 0. In 12 Tests, he has aggregated 624 runs at 32.84, including a hundred against the West Indies in August 2019. His most memorable outing yet came in Sydney this year, where he battled a Grade 2 hamstring tear during his 161-ball 23* to help India salvage a draw.
