Ravindra Jadeja-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will go up against Mayank Agarwal’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday (April 3) in Match 11 of the 15th edition of the IPL at Brabourne Stadium. While the PBKS has won one and lost one, the CSK has lost both their matches so far in the ongoing season.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have not gotten off to an ideal start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 under their newly-appointed skipper Ravindra Jadeja. They have lost two in two, first against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and then Lucknow Super Giants by handsome margins. Their next challenge will be against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday (April) at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai in Match 11 of the ongoing season.

The PBKS, led by Mayank Agarwal, had a rousing performance in their season opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where they chased down 206 with an over to spare, but failed to carry the momentum against KKR in their next fixture. They will be looking to regain confidence against the depleted CSK side, who are yet to register a win this year. Kagiso Rabada and Rahul Chahar will be the key among bowlers, while Shikhar Dhawan and in-form Bhanuka Rajapaksa will be on focus among batters.

CSK, on the other hand, will hope Ruturaj Gaikwad, the highest run-getter of IPL 2021, will regain his form against PBKS.

Form Guide

As mentioned above, CSK is coming to this fixture after back-to-back defeats, while the PBKS has lost their recent encounter against KKR by six wickets after being bowled out for 137 in 18.2 overs.

Head to Head

CSK and PBKS have met 26 times in the past. While the CSK ended up winning on 16 occasions, the PBKS had the last laugh 10 times.

Predicted XIs

Chennai Super Kings: Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius, Chris Jordan, Mukesh Choudhary.

Punjab Kings: Mayank Agarwal (c), Bhanuka Rajapaksa (wk), Shikhar Dhawan, Liam Livingstone, Odean Smith, Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Raj Bawa, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Chahar.

Best betting tip

Moeen Ali to score more than 21.5 @ 1.83

The English all-rounder has been one of the integral players in the CSK set-up since he was promoted to bat at No. 3 last season. In his first game of the ongoing season, Moeen starred with the bat as well, scoring 35 off 22 balls against LSG with four fours and two sixes. He had scored 357 runs in IPL 2021 at a strike rate of 137.30, averaging 25.5.

With Devon Conway likely to be sidelined again, Moeen, the only overseas batter in the CSK batting unit, will be aiming to play important roles to help his side secure their maiden win in the season. Though his batting average (23) against PBKS has not been the greatest.

Match Prediction

As both sides thrive to stage a thriller performance, this should be a neck-to-neck contest. Still, considering their previous records, our prediction will be in favour of CSK.
